Taka Kurita is a photographer and artist based in Kamakura, a historic coastal town in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. His work is rooted in a deep reverence for fleeting moments, emotional quietude, and the interplay between memory and place.
Taka began his artistic journey studying traditional Japanese painting while at university, where he also first discovered his passion for photography. Though his early career took him into music production at a major Japanese record label, photography remained close to his heart. In 2008, a single spontaneous portrait reignited that passion — a turning point that led him to explore photography with renewed dedication.
Since 2019, his work has focused increasingly on introspection, impermanence, and the subtle poetry of everyday scenes. Many of his recent projects return to the landscapes and textures of his hometown, Kamakura, seen through a lens shaped by time, memory, and personal transformation.
He believes in images that feel both accidental and inevitable — as if they were always waiting to be found.
